JDE “Fire and Rehire”, the community supports the employees 03 06 21

Local Coffee Company, Jacobs Dowve Egberts or JDE for short are facing an issue which has become known as “Fire and Rehire”.

It means that for hourly paid workers only (not including Staff and Management), their current contracts will be terminated and they will be re-employed on a new contract with inferior terms and conditions. For most it means an immediate pay cut and fewer other benefits compared to their existing contracts.

The employees affected have the community behind them and this report contains some comments from a selection of the affected employees as well as Union members both local and national who are standing in support of those impacted.
